UR New York proudly presents their first solo exhibition for Miami Art Basel 2011, "BREAKING AND ENTERING". The New York graffiti & street artists Michael Baca - aka “2ESAE” and Fernando Romero aka “SKI” are committed to “breaking and entering” into the mainstream letting their art loose on the world, all the while breaking the status quo and entering the art world on their own terms offering intensely personal and vibrant works with universal appeal. The exhibition and LIVE installations will take place at 2412 North Miami Avenue in the Wynwood District.

QUOTABLES - AVONE - EXHIBIT

New York city-based artist, AVone (Destroy & Rebuild) is back at Lot F Gallery in August with a new body of work. “Quotables”, opening on August 5th, showcases a series of paintings by AVone that memorialize symbolic leaders in the Hip Hop movement (mcing, graffiti, etc). Using silk screens and various techniques, he layers iconic images with city landscapes on canvas.

“Quotables”, opens at Lot F Gallery on Friday, August 5, 2011 with a reception from 7pm to 11pm. Refreshments will be Provided. The show runs until September 2nd, and is open by appointment. All works available in the gallery and online starting August 5th.

Within only a matter of days, the art show “Modern Urbanisms” will hold its opening reception and NYC will be reintroduced to the prodigious talents of artist TMNK. TMNK, also known as “The Me Nobody Knows” and better known as just “Nobody”, is nothing short of contemporary, adroit, and insolent in his style and the resilient messages he brings. Through pop-up pieces, “Modern Urbanisms” will deflect a uniform reality as it explores and divulges the many unprecedented “thoughts and expressions” that surround us but often times go unnoticed and in turn, unrecorded. The show opens February 10th at 7:00pm at 351 Bowery in NYC.

DESTROYREBUILD&KATSU "END THE PLANET"

Pollution. Nuclear warfare. World hunger. The number of preventable yet man made crises that exist in the world today is beyond copious and far too often disregarded. But on December 17th in Brooklyn’s Powerhouse Arena, two of NYC’s hottest graffiti artists took a stand as they collaborated to further explore these prevalent and unfortunately commonplace issues. KATSU and DestroyRebuild are responsible for “End the Planet”, a show that metaphorically created havoc in attempt to increase awareness. Through the utilization of silk screens, graffiti and various other skills, these two artists constructed detailed and exquisite paintings illustrating the negligence of mankind and the effect it has taken on society. The show was dope and definitely on another level. Take a look below to view art from a different angle and embrace a message filled with meaning.

KID ZOOM "THIS CITY WILL EAT ME ALIVE"

Last night, Saturday December 11th, NYC’s Meat Packing District was introduced to the talented, ingenious and inimitable Kid Zoom as he opened his first solo exhibit “This City Will Eat Me Alive”. The title of the exhibit brilliantly plays on words and almost conceptualizes the fact that this NYC based artist is a native of Australia. Contrarily, the caliber of his work and the large turnout unquestionably signifies that Kid Zoom is in his element as his art brings that breath of fresh air that NYC was more than ready for. Upon entering the show room one can see canvases lining the walls (most of which are on a larger scale), various color coated machetes, and dead in the center of all the creativity, stands a gigantic yet captivating bear. Kid Zoom utilized aerosol spray cans in each of his pieces but on first glance one might have thought otherwise because of his controlled hand skills, attention to detail, and execution. As a graffiti artist emerging into the NYC gallery scene Kid Zoom is raising the bar. Words cannot express his art so take a look below and let his work speak for itself. ALEC MONOPOLY "ALEC PAST GO" EXHIBIT

On November 11, 2010, the Los Angeles based artist, Alec Monopoly, held the opening reception for his NYC debut exhibit, “Alec Past Go”. Alec’s style, talent, and versatility is incomparable and it separates him from any other ordinary street artist. Although he hails from LA, his work is rampantly being introduced to the streets of New York in the form of wheat pasting and spray painting. But the message he brings, his approach, the way he doesn’t hesitate to attack the controversial issues that have substance and relevance to so many, is absolutely remarkable. Utilizing characters that the world is familiar with, such as the Monopoly Guy, Bob Dylan, Jack Nickelson, and Twiggy, Alec’s art effectively illustrates the changes that are occurring in corporate America, politics, healthcare, and the economy. In his debut exhibit, primarily through larger paintings on canvas and a few pieces on a smaller scale, Alec gave the public the opportunity to gain more insight on his views, his passion, and his work. Not to mention, when the doors officially opened at 3:00 pm, the first 250 individuals were given a free hand finished print! Anyone who is interested in any form of art should check out this exhibit. It will be up for the next eleven days, so definitely show your support, you will not be disappointed!
